Welcome to Just Piano
- Sylvia McCullough BMus(Hons) MMus MISM
My name is Sylvia, and I am the owner and teacher at Just Piano. I have studied music at Bachelor Degree level and at Masters Degree level at the University of Ulster.
Recently I completed the PTLLS course, (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) further enhancing my facilitation skills in music.
I belong to the Incorporated Society of Musicians (www.ism.org) and as I work in the private sector of piano tuition this is an opportunity for me to exchange ideas, share common interests and voice my concerns in all things music.
My early musical influences include church music and classical music. . As a child I was encouraged to learn the piano but true passion for the instrument came much later in life, and the study of music at degree level helped me to uncover what I wanted to do, after graduation; I began to put together plans to start Just Piano.
Just Piano provides an introduction to the study of piano for all ages, as well as a continuation of study for those with piano, or other musical experience. Due to my own background in music I would encourage those who have previously studied piano to take up a new challenge; return and continue to become skilled at playing piano.
It seems clear to me that music instruction and musical experiences could be key in early education. Learning piano is a focused study, where all learners will aquire attitudes which will help them in all areas of study.
